Alumni Highlight: Eric Marvin

My name is Eric Marvin and I graduated from Arlington Baptist College in 2012. I grew up in Kankakee, IL. I went to college to obtain a degree in student ministry and Bible. I started out at Pensacola Christian College in 2007 and transferred to ABC in 2011. Arlington Baptist College generously allowed me to finish my schooling in a year and they accepted all my credits from my previous college.

My favorite aspect of ABC was the community within the school. From the president all the way down to the students I felt that people genuinely cared for me and each other. It was nice to know I could approach my professors when I needed help, I could easily schedule meetings with the president, and the office staff was always available to help me in any way possible.

After graduation I was hired to work in the student ministry department at Hill Country Bible Church in Austin, TX; a church with 7,000 people in attendance and nearly 800 in the student ministry. I consistently relied on my college training while working in Austin.  I met my wife Amanda in 2013 and we were married in La Jolla, California in March 2014.  After we were married we quickly moved to Greenville, SC so that Amanda could begin her medical residency. I now work at Mt. Airy Baptist Church as the student pastor. As I continue to work in church ministry my appreciation for a quality education grows. I’m so thankful for the role ABC played in my life.
