Any student who attended any other institution of higher learning must present an official transcript with his/her application. Credits earned at an accredited institution will be considered for transfer where programs and courses are compatible. Grades earned in courses must be at least "C" level or equivalent before credits can be transferred.
Students on academic probation at another college or university will be interviewed before being considered for admission. Transfer students must meet all other admissions requirements listed.
Arlington Baptist University maintains an open admissions policy. This is in recognition of the fact that the Lord calls individuals from different backgrounds and levels of preparation. The University is interested in extending its services to anyone who has a sincere desire to prepare for service to the Lord. The admissions requirements listed below are intended to assist the University in helping the student determine goals and develop a college training program to fulfill those goals.
- The applicant must be a born-again Christian.
- Applicant must be an active church member. A pastor’s recommendation form is required. (See Pastor's Recommendation form below)
- The applicant must present an official high school transcript or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
- The applicant must present official transcripts from ALL colleges attended. (This includes colleges that you have registered and then withdrawn).
- The American College Test (ACT) or the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) is required for admissions. The Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA) is required for education majors only. The THEA scores must be presented to the Registrar before the student can be officially accepted into an education program.
- A 1-2 page personal essay is required. (See Application Essay below for instructions).
- The applicant must not be in default to any government sponsored program of education or assistance or to any educational institution. The applicant must be willing to accept full responsibility for financial obligations to the University.
- Careful completion of the application, payment of fees, and submission of transcripts are required of all applicants. Students desiring campus residence must pay a room deposit fee of $25.
- ON-CAMPUS RESIDENCE REQUIREMENTS. All single students under the age of twenty-one are required to take a room in one of the residence halls unless they live with one of their parents, grandparents, or married siblings. Resident students must enroll for a minimum of two semester hours. All rooms are dual occupancy.
- MEDICAL / MEDICAL INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS. All students living on campus and all students attending at least one on-campus course must produce evidence of a recent basic physical, a tuberculosis test results, and record of a bacterial meningitis vaccination (unless 22 years of age or older) prior to enrollment. All students are encouraged to have hospitalization insurance upon enrollment.
- ORIENTATION. In order to aid new students' successful adjustment to college life, orientation provides vital information about Arlington Baptist University policies and procedures. New students receive explanations of the regulations of the University and advice on how to take advantage of the school's services. Orientation is offered at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters. It is required of all new students, including transfer students. New students who enter during the summer and return in the fall must attend the fall orientation for new students. Failure to attend these sessions could delay the student’s enrollment for a semester.
- PLACEMENT TESTS. All beginning students who do not transfer in any English and math are given a test in each of these areas to determine one's course eligibility. Students making below the required scores will be required to enroll in remedial non-credit courses.
